Celebrate Nature Day

My name is Rachel and I have my own musical company called Music Minors. Today we are going to be celebrating nature. I will be teaching you a new song called ‘I Like the Flowers.’ We will be making puppets and singing a song about birds. We will also be making a bird feeder and planting some spring bulbs.

I Like the Flowers Song

Come and join in with this lovely springtime song:

I like the flowers,

I like the daffodils,

I like the mountains,

I like the rolling hills,

I like the fireflies,

When the lights are low,

Singing a doo wop a doo wop a doo wop a doo.

This song is repetitive and will allow the children to be independent. There are actions to go with this song, on the same clip. Enjoy singing about flowers and the lovely colours they bring, maybe you could draw your own flower afterwards. Choose a lovely bright colour. This activity is very uplifting and is good for our well-being.

Making a Bird Feeder

What you need:

Egg box

Bird seed

String

A pencil

This song is repetitive and will allow the children to be independent. There are actions to go with this song, on the same clip. Enjoy singing about flowers and the lovely colours they bring, maybe you could draw your own flower afterwards. Choose a lovely bright colour. This activity is very uplifting and is good for our well-being.

5 Little Bird Song and Puppets

What you need-

Sellotape

Straws

Print out of birds

This is a well known song, but I have changed the words to sing about the birds.

First let the children make 5 little birds and use their imaginations to take them on a journey, over the fields and far away! This will support their numeracy skills and counting. You can print off the words and sing the song together.

Planting Bulbs

At springtime it is wonderful to celebrate by planting some flowers.
What you need:

Soil

Plant pot

Plant bulbs - daffodils & tulips

Little stones

Garden spade

This can be done straight in the garden, or you may use a pot. Plant some springtime flowers and teach the children to look after and nurture them. They will enjoy watching them grow and become bright and colourful flowers. This allows the children to be independent and creative.
