Healthy Me
Sarah introduces the day with the activities that will be coming up - healthy eating poetry, making healthy food, playing a food guessing game and sharing our favourite foods (and seeing how healthy they are!)
Poem - Healthy Me
Sarah shares her healthy eating poem, Healthy Me.
Grown Ups: Sarah reads her poem written with her daughter Eva in mind, talking about healthy food and asking questions to find out more. Children learn about the different food groups and how variety is important. Sarah brings her poem to life using her character doll of Eva. Sarah presents her poem as if she is having a conversation with Eva. Children learn that they can have treats but that it is all about a balance of different foods in their diet.

Guess my fruit or vegetable
Sarah plays a fruit and vegetable game with Eva. More learning - Children can play a vegetable guessing game:
Grown Ups: Sarah has a shopping bag filled with fruits and vegetables. She gives Eva clues about what is in her shopping bag. She describes the fruit and vegetables and gives clues about the initial sounds. Children learn about the variety of fruits and vegetables. This activity supports your child’s understanding of initial sounds and using clues to find answers. Children learn about the world around them through play and exploration.
My Favourite Food
Sarah demonstrates how we can learn about different food groups by sharing with our families our favourite foods.
Grown Ups: Sarah and Eva draw their favourite food for breakfast, lunch and dinner on paper plates. They talk about which foods are healthy and which foods are not so healthy. They circle healthy foods in green. This activity supports your child’s understanding about their food likes and dislikes. Children learn about initial sounds in words. Children also learn about the foods they enjoy as a family and the importance of variety in their daily diet.
Extension
Wake up to Nature Dance with Charlotte and Aaron. This activity supports your child’s well-being, emotional and physical health. The dance demonstrates the importance of waking up and appreciating the nature around us and how it supports us to feel good each day. Children learn the importance of being outside and connecting to nature. Perhaps this is something that you can keep coming back to this week and having a go at? Or play each morning and dance along with Charlotte and Aaron!
