Nature Trail Day
My name is Emma and I am a teacher and an artist. Today I’ll be doing some fun and crafty activities about nature trails. As we are now in Spring, we will be spending more and more time outdoors. Maybe in our gardens, in the park or walking to and from school. Let’s make the most of this lovely time of year to learn and have fun outdoors.
I spy
In our first activity I am going on a walk and I thought we could play ‘I spy’ together. Do you remember how to play? That’s right, I say ‘I spy with my little eye, something beginning with….. 't’ and you have to try and guess what it is by looking around.
This activity develops children’s language and communication, letter recognition and knowledge and understanding of the world.
Maths Challenge
In this activity I am at my local park, there’s lots of beautiful things to see. Join me to see what interesting things we can find. Can you see some shapes around you in nature? Can you count how many leaves you have found? Can you make shapes using sticks?
This activity develops children’s language and communication, letter recognition and knowledge and understanding of the world.
Treasure Hunt
Let’s go on a treasure hunt in the park. We are looking for all things natural. We are looking for natural objects, we may see other things so we need to check and see whether they are natural or man-made.
This develops children’s knowledge and understanding of the world, language and communication and physical development.
Magnifying glass
I’ve found lots of natural items on my walk today and I’d really like to have a better look at them so I’ve made my very own magnifying glass to have a good look at them. You may have a magnifying glass, but if not you can make your own at home with a grown up.
You can make a magnifying glass using the instructions in the Extension activity. This develops children’s knowledge and understanding of the world.
