Keeping Fit Day

Join Lois and Freya for a day full of activities all about keeping fit! We’re going to talk about why keeping fit is so important and how you can keep fit at home by showing you some fun games and activities to try out for yourselves.

Running races

Join Lois for an activity about races! What kind of races do you want to try out?

Set up a start and finish line in your garden or outdoor space. Have fun racing against each other and racing with different members of your family. This supports children’s physical development

Parachute Games

Grab a blanket or a bedsheet and join Freya as she goes through how to make a homemade games parachute!

Set up a start and finish line in your garden or outdoor space. Have fun racing against each other and racing with different members of your family. This supports children’s physical development

The Hokey Cokey

Lois is going to be telling you all about the Hokey Cokey next, and it’s a fun one! Grab an adult, sibling or friend to join in!

Follow Lois as she guides you through this well known song. This supports children’s music and movement, recognition of left and right arms and legs and also their physical development.

Simon Says

Freya is finishing off the day teaching you how to play Simon Says! What exercises can you come up with to use in the game?

Write down some simple exercises that you can do together with your child: Star jumps, jogging on the spot, skipping around the room and add some more ideas of your own. This develops children’s ability to follow instructions and supports their physical development.

Extension

Why don’t you try making an exercise diary at home? Each day set out one type of exercise you want to do, whether it’s a walk, or a game or visiting a park. You can even do a diary entry on what is your favourite activity to do and why! Decorate your diary as you would like it and remember to fill it in every day!
