You can do any of these tasks, in any order (but we've suggested a timetable).
Take as long as your little ones want for each task, let them use their imaginations!

Road Safety Day

Hello children, I'm Jude, an author and storyteller. This week is Road Safety Week which reminds us all about keeping safe on the roads. This is so important for everyone. Today you'll meet Super Bob and learn some very important messages about staying safe on the roads.

9.30am Activity:
Super Bob

Meet Super Bob, a very special superhero with an important message. I'm going to read my book 'Super Bob' to you. You can join in with Super Bob's catchphrase and the actions. You can talk to your grown up about how you will stay safe on the roads.

Grown Ups:
Encourage your children to listen to the story. Talk about road safety and how important it is to stay safe. Highlight the points that were covered in the book - holding hands, not running into the road, using the crossings etc. Use language such as road safety, roads, cars, traffic, buses, bikes, crossing, stop, look, listen.

Develops - Communication & Language, PSHE and Understanding the World skills.

10.30am Activity:
Super Bob's Messages

Super Bob has three really important messages he'd like to tell you about. Can you join in with the actions and the words? 

Grown Ups:
Encourage your child to listen to the messages and join in using words and actions. Talk about the importance of the three messages and how you will use them together.  Use language such as road safety, roads, cars, traffic, buses, bikes, I must be safe on  the road, slow down, road safety is for everyone.

Develops - PSHE, Communication & Language and Understanding the World Skills.

1:30pm Activity:
Stop! Look! Listen!

Let's play a game. We'll walk around our space and whenever I call out 'Super Bob' we stand still and say 'Stop! Look! Listen!' This will help us to remember to stop at the curb, look for traffic and listen for traffic before crossing when our grown up tells us. 

Grown Ups:
Re-cap the Stop! Look! Listen! actions and encourage your children to join in with the game. You could do your own versions by adding music if you wish. Use language such as stop, look, listen, curb, traffic, cross, grown up, safely, road safety.,  Develops - Language & Communication, PSHE and Understanding the World skills

2:30pm Activity:
Road Play

Can you set up a road scene with a playmat, Lego boards or some black paper. You can use your cars and vehicles and toy people or animals to role play. Can you help your toys cross the road safely? 

Grown Ups:
Encourage your child to set up the road scene with the resources you have available. Talk about road safety, stop, look and listen and crossing the road as your child role plays using their toys.  Use language such as - road, safety, cars, vehicle names, cross, stop, look, listen. Develops -  Communication & Language, PSHE and Understanding the World skills.

If you've finished these and still have time for fun...

Go on a walk and talk about crossing the road safely with your child. Practice the stop, look, listen and using the crossings.

Story time:
S.T.O.P

Snuggle up and join in with Super Bob's second book 'S.T.O.P' which has a really important message for grown ups.
