Today’s Activities

You can do any of these tasks, in any order (but we've suggested a timetable).
Take as long as your little ones want for each task, let them use their imaginations!

Please share your creations with us on social media.

Twelve Days of Christmas

I’m Emma and I’m happy to be here with you at EYFS Home.

Today, we are learning about the ’Twelve days of Christmas’, I hope you enjoy the day. We will be learning the traditional song and also matching the pictures and numbers from the song. We will be making a drum to play along to the music. We will also be coming up with ideas for activities we can do at Christmas time with our families.

9.30am Activity:
Twelve Days of Christmas Song

In our first video we will be singing ‘the Twelve days of Christmas’.

Grown Ups:
Come and join me as I share pictures to help you and your child join in with this traditional Christmas song. This supports children’s counting and memory skills.

10.30am Activity:
Make a Drum

Let’s make a craft linked to the Twelve days of Christmas. Today we’ll be making a drum just like the drummer boy in the song.

Grown Ups:
You will need: an empty container with a lid, some card, felts, stickers, sellotape and some ribbon. This supports children’s creativity and expressive art and design.

1:30pm Activity:
Number and Picture Match

Using the Twelve days of Christmas images lets match the images to the numbers. We will be counting each one too.

Grown Ups:
You can draw pictures and numbers and match the correct ones together from this traditional Christmas song. This supports children’s number recognition and counting up to 12.

2:30pm Activity:
Make Your Own Twelve Days of Christmas

We’ve looked at the Twelve days of Christmas today, why don’t we have a go at doing our very own version for Christmas.

Grown Ups:
On my whiteboards, I have written down 12 activities to do with your family. Why not have a go at making some of your own activities up? Some of the activities may have to be adapted at this time, depending on where you live in the UK. This supports children’s ability to plan and explore their own ideas. It develops their language and communication about what they enjoy.

If you've finished these and still have time for fun...
