Love and Kindness Day

My name is Georgie and I am a dancer. Today we are having a fun filled day learning about love and kindness! We will be doing some fun craft activities, some biscuit decorating and making a very exciting love potion! I can’t wait to get started.

Heart Shaped Cards

In this activity we will be making a heart shaped card to give to somebody in our lives who we love and appreciate.

With your child, have a think about who they are grateful for in their life.

Once completed they can decorate the card in any way they like, with pencils, pens or craft materials.

This supports children’s personal social and emotional development.

Love Potion

In this activity we will be making a love potion.

With your child, have a think about who they are grateful for in their life.

Once completed they can decorate the card in any way they like, with pencils, pens or craft materials.

This supports children’s personal social and emotional development.

Symmetrical Painted Heart

You could make a heart for someone you love.

In this activity we will be painting one half of a heart and then folding it over to print on the other side.

Once the paint is dry you will be able to put a hole in the heart and hang it up as a decoration.

This supports children’s understanding of symmetry and supports their creativity too.

Biscuit Decorating

In this activity we will be decorating biscuits to share with our loved ones.

Talk with your child about what pictures or design they would like for their biscuit.

All you need is some plain biscuits, icing sugar, sprinkles and any other decorations you would like for your biscuits. Once decorated you can share them with a loved one.

This supports children’s creativity and personal, social and emotional development.

Extension

One Good Deed a Day-

Today’s extension task is to try and think of one thing that you can do per day that is kind and helpful for someone that you love/care about. This could be as simple as helping with the washing up or putting your toys away. Sometimes it really is the little things in life that we appreciate!

This supports children’s understanding of how to support the people they love in their life and how this can brighten someone’s day.
