All About Me Day

Becky is a singer and dancer from Scotland and today she is here to join us for our All About Me Day. Today Becky, is joined by her happy helper Nicole, taking us through a fun filled day of arts and crafts, creativity and imagination. Guiding us to think about our hopes and dreams for the future and encouraging us to appreciate ourselves for our talents and ambitions.

Draw Our Face in a Mirror

Becky takes us through how to use a mirror to draw a picture of your face. Allowing the boys and girls to get up close and really look at themselves helps them to appreciate all their unique features. Becky hopes we enjoy drawing our faces as much as she did.

Encourage your child to really look at their face and features. Join in the activity with them and show them how to draw each section starting with the hair and face shape. This activity helps to develop observation skills and creativity skills.

Measuring Ourselves

It’s time to recruit the grown-ups to help with this one. Using a big sheet of paper, draw around your child and measure how tall they are using different objects. Nicole was 11 pens tall, wow! How tall are you?

Encourage your child to really look at their face and features. Join in the activity with them and show them how to draw each section starting with the hair and face shape. This activity helps to develop observation skills and creativity skills.

Our Favorite Things

Let’s draw around our hands, and inside draw our favorite things. Thinking about all of our favorite things can allow us to appreciate what we have even more. Nicole thoroughly enjoyed getting to show off her artistic skills for this activity.

Encourage your child to talk about their favourite things and draw them inside the outline of their hand. You might like to join in and do your own favourite things. This activity develops communication and language and PSED skills.

Star of the Future

Don’t put away your paper and pens yet. For our final activity, we want you to draw a star and inside that star, draw everything you want to be when you grow-up. This allows us to use our imaginations and think of the things we want to work hard to achieve.

Talk with your child about what they might like to be when they grow up. Maybe you could tell them what you wanted to be when you were little. Encourage children to draw what they would like to be. This activity encourages children to think about their future, their dreams and aspirations.

Extension

1. Read the 'All About Me poem' with your children.

2. Spend some time doing your child's favourite things from Activity Three.
