Christmas Forest Day
Hello children, today Jude, Lamby and Flossie would like to welcome you to Christmas Forest Day. We hope you have lots of fun.
Jude, Lamby and Flossie are going to show you some lovely fun activities for Christmas Forest Day. Are you ready to join in?
Forest Walk
We're going to go on a walk in our local forest. We're going to look out for anything that could make lovely Christmas Forest decorations. Are you ready to go on your walk?
Take your child on a walk to a local park/woods or forest. Look out for any pine cones or leaves that you might like to decorate. Remember to use gloves when collecting the things. Use language such as pinecone, leaves, forest, wood, trees, decoration. Develops - Communication & Language, PSHE and Understanding the World skills.
Let's Decorate
Now we can decorate the lovely things we found on our Christmas Forest Walk. I'm using sparkly paint to decorate my pinecones. I wonder what you'll use.
Christmas Garland
Now we're going to make a shiny, sparkly Christmas garland. This is a great way to use up all the little bits of shiny paper, bows or curling ribbon you might have.
Talk about the garland with your children. Discuss what they might like to use to decorate it with. Encourage your child to use their own ideas to complete it. Use language such as garland, decorate, shiny, sparkly, curling ribbon, bow, Christmas etc.
Develops - Language & Communication, Physical and Expressive Arts skills.
Your Christmas Forest
Now we can decide where our lovely Christmas Forest decorations can go. Are you going to put yours in your bedroom?
Encourage your child to decide where they would like their decorations to go. If you have any neighbours who live alone maybe you could ask if you could leave the decoration on one of their trees or on the doorstep for them. Use language such as - decorate, decide, tree, garden, bedroom, house, neighbour.
