Explorers at Sundorne

Today we have a takeover day with Sundorne Explorers in Shrewsbury and Music Minors. We will be making tambourines, magic wands, singing and dancing and chasing bubbles too. We hope you enjoy our fun themed day!

Making Tambourines with Music Minors

This activity is a really fun one and only needs a few items, which you will probably have at home. You need a paper plate, some rice and sticky tape or a stapler. In this clip Natalie shows you how to create this item and how the children are able to do this activity independently and confidently. It is also a lovely keepsake to use for activities later on in the day.

Grown Ups: This activity supports your child’s creative development and expressive arts. Children will have fun making their own instrument and can create their own sounds and rhythms.

Making Ribbon Wands

Natalie takes you through a step by step guide to making these fabulous wands with your children. This is one of her favourite activities with the preschool children. In the clip you’ll see how independent the children are and how they are able to confidently make this item. The wands are also great to use afterwards for dancing around with or even being a magician! Let your child take you on an adventure with their ribbon wand!

Grown Ups: This supports your child’s fine motor skills as they wrap the ribbon around the wand. It also develops their creativity and imagination too.

Bubble Song with Music Minors

This is one of Rachel’s most popular activities. The music adds to the fun of popping bubbles. Allow your child to explore and follow the bubbles, popping them and they can even count how many! Using only your popping finger, come and have fun popping bubbles to a lovely Disney song which the children, I am sure that you will recognise it.

Grown Ups: This supports your child’s physical development as they move around in a fun way! Children also learn about bubbles and how they can float and move in the air but once touched they pop!
