Follow Your Dreams Day

Welcome to Follow your dreams day. My name is Sarah and I am a children’s author. Today I will be sharing my story ‘Jack and the Genie.’ Imagine meeting your very own Genie, I wonder what you would wish for? We are going to be making our own Jack and the Genie characters and re-telling the story. We will be making and decorating our very own treasure chests and Genie lamp. We will also be making our own dream life pictures too.

Jack and the Genie Story

Listen to Sarah as she shares her enchanting tale about a little boy called Jack and how he meets his very own Genie. Children learn about how important it is to follow their dreams and inner guidance, as this will lead them to a future filled with happiness.

After the story print off the colouring picture. Together with your child talk about what you would wish for if you met your very own Genie. Ask your child to think about their wishes and dreams for the future and discuss this together. This supports children to think about what is important to them. It develops their sense of self and self-awareness. It supports children to understand the importance of their own opinions and building their self-esteem and self-belief.

Jack and the Genie Characters

Make your own characters from the story.

Treasure Chest and Genie Lamp

Make your own treasure chest and magical genie lamp.

You will need: sugar paper, glue, sparkly stars or foil, scissors, felt tip pens, print out of lamp.

Follow Sarah as she demonstrates how to create your own treasure chest and genie lamp. Talk together with your child about if you found your own treasure in the cave of wonders. What else might you add to the treasure chest? You can make your own jewels, coins or whatever you like to add to your treasure chest.

My Dream Life Picture

Cut out pictures from magazines of all your favourite things and dreams for the future to create your very own dream life picture.

Work together with your child to ask them about all of the things they love to do. Cut out pictures from magazines, catalogues or draw pictures of your own. Add words to the picture of things that make you happy. This activity supports children to explore what they like. It supports children’s self-discovery, self-esteem, self-worth and creates a wonderful picture of what makes them happy.

My Dream Adventure Meditation for children written by Sarah Griffiths.

Come on a magical flying adventure, take a ride on the magic carpet, meet your own Genie and a dragon that will take you to the life of your dreams. This is a wonderful uplifting activity for children, that supports them to use their imaginations. It helps them to relax and take time for themselves.
