Goldilocks Day

Hello children, Jude, Lamby and Flossie would like to welcome you to 'Goldilocks Day'. We've got lots of fun activities planned so come and join in.

'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' is a very popular story. We love it and can't wait to share our activities with you. We'll re-tell the story, sing a  song, set the table and make some bed covers for the bears. It's going to be a lovely day.

Goldilocks and the Three Bears

I'm going to re-tell the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. You can join in with the actions and when the bears get cross.

Encourage your children to join in with the actions when we 'make' the porridge. You can also encourage them to join in with the bears 'Who's been eating my porridge?' etc. Talk about using different voices for each of the bears. Use language such as bears, big, middle sized, baby, kitchen, sitting room, bedroom etc.  You could also discuss how the bears feel when Goldilocks eats their porridge and breaks baby bear's chair.

Develops - Communication & Language, PSHE and Physical skills.

Goldilocks Song

Can you join in with the words and actions for our Goldilocks song? You can use different instruments to make the sounds for huge, small and tiny.

Setting the Table

Let's help the bears set the table so they can eat their porridge. We'll need three bowls, three spoons and three cups and saucers. Make sure they are the right size for the bears.

Encourage your children to find a small bowl, small cup and saucer (mug) and small spoon, middle sized and big of the same. Discuss setting the table and using the small objects for baby bear, the middle sized for mummy bear and the big for daddy bear. Use language such as small, big, middle sized, medium, tiny, large, cup, saucer, bowl, spoon.

Develops - Language & Communication, Maths and Understanding the World skills.

Duvet Patterns

The bears need some covers for their bed. We can decorate their covers with patterns. I'm going to use a small pattern for Baby Bear, a middle sized pattern for Mummy Bear and a big pattern for Daddy Bear.

Help your children to cut three pieces of paper to represent the duvet covers. Discuss how they will decorate them. You can use patterns like I do in the video or just decorate them with things you think the bears would like.  Use language such as - bed covers, pattern, small, medium, middle sized, big, large, repeat, colour names.

Develops -  Communication & Language, Physical and Maths skills.
