Looking After Our Environment Day

Join Lois and Freya for a fun day learning about how to look after the environment! We are going to be looking at the four R’s:

Reuse

Recycle

Reduce

Repair

We will be learning about how we use these words to help us to care for our precious environment.

Refuse

We often take the car for short journeys that can be easily walked.

Join Lois for a session on why making changes to the way we travel is so important and how this can make you healthier too. This supports children’s knowledge and understanding of how to look after our world and highlights the importance of daily exercise.

Reduce

Reducing the amount of plastic we are buying is a really important thing you can do to help save the environment!

Join Lois for a session on how we can help the environment by making small changes such as using reusable bags. This develops children’s knowledge on how they can they make a difference to the environment by the choices they make.

Repair

The last session of the day requires a crafty pair of hands and a lot of imagination.

Join Freya for a session on repairing items instead of throwing them away and making something new!

This develops children’s creativity and their understanding about how they can make a difference to the environment.

Extension

Watch this video on renewable energy sources, particularly listening to the first bit about solar energy. Solar energy is one way the environment gives back to us! The sunlight can be turned into energy and used in your homes, nurseries and schools! This is just one benefit of sunlight, can you name any more? Here are some clues: Think about why you need less jackets in the summer, or why plants like the sun?
