Monstrous Me Day
It’s 'Monstrous Me' day, and we’re going to have a roaring time discovering the little monster inside us. We will be mixing monster colours and making monster crafts, and at the end of the day, we’ll ask ourselves a question:
Who is the Monster in your house?
Your gran? sister? dog? Or you, perhaps?
Put your claws in the air, it’s another Monster day at EYFS.
You will be:
Mixing Monster Paints
Building scary Tube Monsters out of old toilet rolls.
Making Monster Flipsticks. Are they human or a monster?
Singing a very monstrous song
Having a story with mummy monster (She’s very grumpy today)
Mixing Monster Paints
Monsters are amazing. They can make rainbows, and you can too.
Monsters come in all shapes and sizes, and patterns, too. They can be any colour of the rainbow, and any shade in between. Today, we are going to discover what colours can make other colours. Get your paint brushes, paints and a flat plate, and let’s go!
This activity supports children’s creativity and understanding of colour building.
Tube Monsters
It is time to gather up your old toilet or kitchen rolls. The more the merrier. Now you can build your very own monster army, in lots of pretty colours and patterns.

Monster Flip Sticks
Are you feeling monstrous yet?
Now, it’s time to test whether you are a human or a monster, by making a spinny, swishy, swivelly flipstick.
Ask your child to draw themselves and draw their monster self, too. What would your monster self look like? Would you have sharp teeth? One eye? It’s really up to you. You can be the monster you want to be.
This activity is so much fun and supports children’s creative play.
