Road Safety Day

My name is Rachel from Music Minors based in Shropshire. Today I am joined by my daughters Matilda and Tallulah and we are going to be learning all about road safety. We will be learning a song to help you remember the important rules to cross the road. We will be playing and creating our own roads with our toys and making a safety poster too.

Road Safety Song

This song uses a familiar tune for the children to recognise. It has repetitive words and actions for the children to imitate Rachel. Sing along together with your child. Have fun together, while learning the road safety rules at the sametime. This activity supports children’s knowledge and understanding of the world around them and how to keep themselves safe near the road.

Encourage your child to join in with the lyrics and actions for the song. Talk about how you will keep safe and cross the road safely.

Small World Play

Join Rachel, Matilda and Tallulah as they share how to cross the road safely with their toys.

Encourage your child to join in with the lyrics and actions for the song. Talk about how you will keep safe and cross the road safely.

Road Safety Poster

Rachel demonstrates how you can use certain colours that will stand out on the poster.

This activity develops children’s independence by letting them choose what colours stand out for them. Follow the instructions and it would be lovely to see your work in our EYFSHome gallery. Let’s see your creative designs. Send your posters to info@eyfshome.com

Rules for Crossing the Road

Rachel, Matilda and Tallulah show you the rules for crossing the road safely.

Together with your child, watch the video clip. Remember the three rules: stop, look and listen before crossing the road safely. See if you can have a go with your child. They can imitate Rachel with her actions and remember the rules. This activity supports knowledge and understanding of the world around them, the importance of following rules and develops their language and communication.

We used this story last year when we did a different Road Safety Day and we thought we'd share it with you again. Snuggle up and let's begin.
