Today’s Activities

You can do any of these tasks, in any order (but we've suggested a timetable).
Take as long as your little ones want for each task, let them use their imaginations!

Please share your creations with us on social media.

A Day with Harris the Hedgehog

My Name is A V Turner. I am a writer and an actor. I write books about a little hedgehog called Harris.

Today we are going to be doing some fun activities. First, we will be listening to a chapter from my special Christmas story about Harris. Next, we will be doing some yoga, litter picking and some running. We will also be finding out about how to look after hedgehogs.

9.30am Activity:
Harris the Hedgehog and the Christmas Day Run

Come and listen to my story about Harris. Here I share a chapter of my book. Talk together about how Harris loved to run.

Grown Ups:
You will need some paper, pencils and colouring pens. Join me as I share how to draw a lovely picture of Harris the Hedgehog. This supports children’s creativity and expressive art and design

10.30am Activity:
Yoga

Join me for a short yoga session to relax and get your body ready for the day.

Grown Ups:
Find an area where you and your child can follow these simple moves and relaxation techniques.

This supports children’s physical development.

1:30pm Activity:
Pick Up Your Litter

Remember how important it is to put our litter in the bin.

Grown Ups:
To keep hedgehogs and other animals safe, it is important to put our litter in the bin. Talk with your child about keeping our outside area tidy. Discuss why it is important to wear special gloves when picking up litter. You can also use a special litter picker tool that you might see people using out and about.

2:30pm Activity:
Running in the Garden

Join me for some exercise around the garden.

Grown Ups:
Talk to children about the importance of daily exercise and how this keeps us healthy. Remind children of Harris from the story and how he loved to run. Time your child for 2 minutes as they run around as fast as they can. Can you feel your heartbeat at the end of your run? What do you notice? This supports children’s physical development.

If you've finished these and still have time for fun...
