Nursery Rhyme Day
Hello children, Jude, Lamby and Flossie would like to welcome you to 'Nursery Rhyme Day'. We love Nursery Rhymes and hope you have lots of fun joining in with our activities.
Nursery Rhymes are wonderful because -

9.30am Activity:
The Story of Incy Wincy
I'm going to tell you the story of Incy Wincy. There are lots of actions to join in with and at the end we can sing the Nursery Rhyme.
Grown Ups:
Encourage your children to join in with the actions and with the Nursery Rhyme at the end.
Develops - Communication & Language and Physical skills
10.30am Activity:
Make Your Own Incy
Let's make our own Incy Wincy Spider. You can decide what to use or you can make one like mine from Pipe Cleaners. Make sure your spider has 8 legs. And if you give your spider eyes, they normally have 8 eyes too.
Grown Ups:
Encourage your child to discuss their ideas. What will they use to make their spider? You might want to research spiders to find out more about them.
Develops - Physical, Communication and Understanding the World skills.
1:30pm Activity:
Humpty Dumpty
Humpty Dumpty is actually a game. For this we have to sit on the floor in an egg shape, hold our knees then rock back and try to stand up. It's good fun! Can you join in?
Grown Ups:
Encourage your children to join in with the Nursery Rhyme and activity. Use vocabulary such as rock, egg shape, back, stand up and exercise. You might like to do the Humpty Dumpty Exercise yourself!
Develops - Physical and PSHE skills.
2:30pm Activity:
Five Current Buns
Can you join in with the rhyme Five Current Buns? You might like to set up your own Baker Shop to go with the rhyme? You can ask your teddies or other people in your house to be the customers.
Grown Ups:
Help your children to gather the resources they want to use for the rhyme. Encourage your children to join in with the rhyme. Use language such as - bakers shop, how many are left, let's count, bought etc.
Develops - PSHE, Communication & Language, Maths, Understanding the World skills.
If you've finished these and still have time for fun...
1. Sing Nursery Rhymes every day.
2. Encourage your children to learn at least 5 Nursery Rhymes by heart.
3. Have a go at making your own story version of a Nursery Rhyme like I did with Incy Wincy and Jack and Jill.
