Camping at Home Day

My name is Sarah, I am a children’s author and today we are going to going on a camping adventure at home! First, we will be finding out about the equipment you will need. Next, we will be cooking some delicious food to enjoy whilst we are camping. Then look out for some fun camping games we can play with our grown up. Then we will be getting creative and making our very own campfires! Finally, we will snuggle up in out tent and share a story called ‘The Very Noisy Night’.

9.30am Activity:
Camping at Home

Find out what equipment we need to camp in the garden.

Grown Ups:

Grown-Ups: Sarah shares different equipment you need to put up your tent to camp outside. If you don’t have a tent Sarah shares how you can adapt this and camp out in your front room too! Children learn about planning for a trip, organising equipment together and working together.

10.30am Activity:
Cooking Camping Food

Cook some tasty camp food together with your grown up. Sarah shares a few simple ideas about food you can make when camping outside. Sarah also shares traditional ways to enjoy camping food and toasts marshmallows on the fire pit. 

Grown Ups:

Grown-Ups: Children learn about hygiene, how to prepare food and how fun it can be to eat outside! Children also learn about how to keep safe with a Grown-Up around fire.

1:30pm Activity:
Camping Games and Fun

Learn about some fun games to play while camping.

Grown Ups:

Grown-Ups: Sarah shares some fun activities for you to play with your child. Sarah and Eva play target games and activities. They score points for hitting targets and find out who is the winner. Children learn new games they can create in their garden. This supports your child’s physical development and counting for a purpose.

2:30pm Activity:
Make Your Own Camp Fire.

Create your own paper camp fire to toast your marshmallows on! Sarah demonstrates how we can use paper and tissue paper to create a campfire. She shares how you can make marshmallows on a stick and use your imagination to toast them on your fire! 

Grown Ups:

Grown-Ups: This supports your child’s creativity and imaginative play.
