Creativity Day
Hi my name is Emma and I’m an artist and a teacher. Today will be all about creativity at EYFS Home which is my favourite thing in the world! We will be using our imagination to do and be whoever we want to be.
9.30am Activity:
Express Yourself
We can express ourselves in lots of different ways and I thought we could draw all the things that we love, to show to everyone.
Grown Ups:
Together with your child record all the things that they love to do. Draw pictures and words to match and celebrate the ways that we express ourselves.
This supports children’s language and communication and personal, social and emotional development.
10.30am Activity:
Create
What do you love to create? Why not look back at our expressing yourself activity and see what you would like to do. I’m an artist so I’m going to create a picture.
Grown Ups:
Talk together about what you love to do.
Maybe you like to sing, you could sing your favourite song or even make up your own song.
Do you like to dance? You could dance to some of your favourite music.
It’s up to you. This supports children’s personal, social and emotional development. It helps them to talk about themselves and what they enjoy.
1:30pm Activity:
Imagination
If you could do anything you wanted, what would you do? Who would you be?
I love being creative and I’d play music all day!
Have a look through your dressing up box and all the things around your house.
Dress up and role play, really believe you are that person.
Grown Ups:
Join in with your child and use your imaginations to be anything you dream of. This supports children’s personal, social and emotional development.
2:30pm Activity:
Free to be me
I’ve found an old book in my house full of games. One of my favourite games to play is ‘Kim’s game’, it’s all about having a great memory. Let’s play!
Grown Ups:
Play a game together with your family about what makes you who you are. Come up with your own questions to find out more about each other. What is my favourite colour? What is my favourite story? What do I love to do more than anything?
Who is my favourite story book character? What do I want to do when I am older?
If you've finished these and still have time for fun...
Play a game of ‘Guess who?’ Can you describe the different people?
If you don’t have the game at home, why not have a go at drawing pictures of different people. Maybe some people will wear glasses, some may have long blonde hair. They might be wearing a hat! It’s up to you.
Maybe you can use your imagination to create a story about the different characters?
