Enchanted Forest Day
Hello children, Jude, Lamby and Flossie would like to welcome you to a very exciting day. Today we are having an Enchanted Forest Day! We've got lots of fun activities planned so come and join in.
Let's take a look inside Flossie's toadstool and see what we'll be doing today. We'll be going for a walk, collecting some enchanting objects, making a mobile and lots of other exciting things. If you want to dress up you can.
9.30am Activity:
An Enchanted Forest Walk
Join me on an Enchanted Forest Walk. The leaves on the trees have changed colours and they're falling on the ground. What treasure have they dropped? We can collect some interesting leaves, twigs and pinecones to use later in our activities.
Grown Ups:
Encourage your children to look for interesting things which may have fallen from the trees. Remind them not to pick things, just look on the ground. Discuss the fact that this time of year is magical. Look for fairy holes and elves houses in the trees.
Use language such as enchanted, magical, beautiful, fairy, elf, unicorn, dragon, fairy hole, tree names, collect.

10.30am Activity:
An Enchanted Forest Mobile
Look at all the lovely things we've found children. Now we're going to make an Enchanted Forest Mobile. You can decorate it with some of the things you've found. If you want to add some curling ribbon or sparkly ribbon to make it even more enchanted you can.
Grown Ups:
Discuss what your child is going to use to decorate their mobile. They may need help with scissors and tying things on. Talk about how things will hang and about the mobile being balanced.
Use language such as decorate, mobile, enchanted, magical, hanging, tie, scissors, curling ribbon, sparkle, balance.

1:30pm Activity:
Setting the Scene
We're going to make up some Enchanted Forest stories later so we need to make an Enchanted Forest scene. I've got a storybox so you can make your own box and decorate it if you like or decorate a piece of paper. Cover it with lots of natural materials so it looks like an Enchanted Forest.
Grown Ups:
Discuss what the forest would look like. Encourage your child to use their imagination to decorate the box or paper. If you want to add details such as drawing on fairy holes, nests etc that would be lovely.

2:30pm Activity:
Once Upon a Time...
Now we can make up our own Enchanted Forest story. Have a look in your toys and find some that you think would like to visit your Forest. Then you can make up a story about their day. Have fun!
Grown Ups:
Encourage your child to choose some little figures to be in their story. Encourage your child to role play using the scene and the toys. You may need to demonstrate making a story first but then encourage them to make up their own as well.
Use language such as - enchanted, character names, one day, woods, trees, magical, once upon a time.

If you've finished these and still have time for fun...
1. Dress up as Enchanted Forest Characters.
2. Make up stories when you next visit the park, woods or a nearby tree.
3. Make some fairy wings.
