Fitness Day

My name is Georgie and I am 23 years old and I am a dancer. I am here today to take you on a fun-filled day of learning about fitness! By the end of the day I want you to feel like you have worked hard, burnt off some energy and found new ways to have fun whilst exercising and staying fit.

9.30am Activity:
Hopscotch

Our first activity today is going to be hopscotch! You will start by drawing your template out on the floor and experiment with some different games that you can play solo, or with others on the hopscotch court.

Grown Ups:

This activity supports children's recognition of numbers from 1 to 10. It supports children's counting in a sequence and it also supports their physical development whilst having fun.

10.30am Activity:
Dance and Sing

In this activity, we are going to learn a short, little dance to the song ‘Can’t Stop the Feeling’ from the film ‘Trolls’, which you are also welcome to sing along to. I break the movements down slowly, but if you need a bit more time to practise them you can easily rewind the video as many times as you like and re-watch.

Grown Ups:

This activity is a lovely way for children to move their body to music and supports their physical development. It supports children to follow instructions and to be creative; developing their own ideas for movements to the music.

1:30pm Activity:
Bubble Fun

In this activity we are going to be experimenting and playing with some bubbles. Get yourself a bubble wand and see how many bubbles you can pop, catch and keep off the ground! This is a great way to be active and also have lots of fun!

Grown Ups:

This activity is a great way for children to be active and have fun at the same time. Children love bubbles and this activity develops their counting of objects, following instructions and supports their physical development.

2:30pm Activity:
Fitness Bootcamp

In this activity, we will be focusing on four key movements to get our heart rate up and work our muscles. Star jumps, jogging on the spot, skipping and jumping up and down on the spot. Make sure you’ve got enough space to exercise safely and enjoy.

Grown Ups:

This activity is a great way to motivate children to exercise each day. It is fun to practise the exercises together with your child. It supports their physical development and emotional health too.

If you've finished these and still have time for fun...

If you have enjoyed the fitness bootcamp, why not challenge yourself to do it every single day for a month, and see how much stronger you feel at the end?
