International Dance Day
My name is Georgie and I am a dancer.
Today we are going to be learning lots of different styles of dance from all around the world to celebrate International Dance Day! Make sure that you have enough space to dance around with me!
9.30am Activity:
Irish Dancing
The first type of dance we will be learning about is Irish dancing! Known for its curly wigs, stiff arms and beautifully detailed dresses.
Grown Ups:
Help your child and join in together with some Irish music. This develops children’s ability to follow instructions, listening skills, expressive arts and creativity too.
10.30am Activity:
Bollywood Dancing
The second type of dancing is Bollywood. This originated from Mumbai in India and is made up of 8 different styles of dance!
Grown Ups:
Join in together with your child and find some Bollywood style music. You can dress up and be as creative as you like.
This develops children’s ability to follow instructions, listening skills, expressive arts and creativity too.
1:30pm Activity:
Samba Dancing
The Samba is from Brazil and is always used in carnivals and celebrations! The dancers are known for their vibrant feathery costumes.
Grown Ups:
Help your child and join in together with some samba themed music. This develops children’s ability to follow instructions, listening skills, expressive arts and creativity too.
2:30pm Activity:
African Dancing
This dance is the dance of the Maasai Tribe, it is called Adumu and means to jump. The Maasai wear beautiful red robes and are well known for how high they can jump!
Grown Ups:
Help your child and join in together with some African style music. This develops children’s ability to follow instructions and listening skills, expressive arts and creativity too.
