New Years' Day

Happy New Year from everyone at EYFS Home. My name is Emma and I am a teacher and an artist. I would like to welcome you to 2021 with lots of fun New Year activities. Today we will be singing, crafting and dressing up too.

9.30am Activity:

New Years Day Song

In our first activity we will be learning a new song.

Grown Ups:

Follow me as I share the words of this lovely New Year song. This is a fun activity to celebrate the new year. It supports children’s memory skills and customs at the start of a new year.

10.30am Activity:

Memory Maker Craft

Starting a new year is so exciting, thinking about all the things we want to do in the coming year.

Grown Ups:

For this activity we will be using paint to make a handprint memory craft and adding all the things that are important to us. I’ve thought of a few things you could put onto your memory maker. You can add all of the things that are important to you and your child. It is lovely to look back on the memory maker at the end of the year. This activity supports children’s Personal, Social and Emotional Development.

1:30pm Activity:

New Years' Crackers

In this activity we will be making a New Year cracker.

Grown Ups:

The first day of a New Year is a wonderful time to celebrate. The crackers are simple and fun to make. The link below gives you some more information to have a look at along with this video.

This activity supports children’s knowledge and understanding of customs at this time of year.
