World Farm Animal Day
Hello children, Jude, Lamby and Flossie would like to welcome you to 'Farm Day'. We've got lots of fun activities planned so come and join in.
Have you ever been to a farm? Maybe you live on a farm? Or maybe you've never been to a farm. We've got a day of activities all to do with the farm including songs and games. It's going to be a lovely day.
9.30am Activity:
Let's Make a Farm
I'm going to make a farm using my old farm set from when I was little. Can you make a farm? If you have a play farm you could use that. You could also make a farm out of lego or building bricks and your toy animals or you could draw one.
Grown Ups:
Discuss farms with your children. Talk about the kind of things you might find on one - the animals, the buildings etc. Encourage your child to set up their own farm using small world, construction or drawing. Use language such as farm, animal, animal names, barn, stable, field, sty, tractor, crops, plants.
Develops - Communication & Language, PSHE Understanding the World skills.
10.30am Activity:
Old MacDonald Song
Can you join in with the words and actions for the 'Old MacDonald' song? You can sing this using your own toy animals each time.
Grown Ups:
Talk about the animals who might live on a farm and the noises they make. Encourage your children to join in with the song and the animal noises. Use language such as animal names, oink, moo, baaa, neigh, cluck, woof, miaow etc. Develops - Communication & Language, PSHE and Understanding the World skills.
1:30pm Activity:
Guess Who!
Let's play a game. Can you guess which animal I'm describing. I'll give you three clues or bits of information.
Grown Ups:
Encourage your children to listen to the clues and guess which farm animal I'm describing. You can play this game by yourselves as well. With older children, let them have a go at thinking of some clues so that you can guess the animal.
