You can do any of these tasks, in any order (but we've suggested a timetable).

Noisy Nora Day

My name is Sarah Parkinson and I am a Children's author and illustrator. Today I will be sharing my new story 'Noisy Nora.' This is a lovely rhyming tale, teaching children to be themselves, celebrate who they are, to be kind, and also the importance of accepting the differences of others. Join me today for some fun, creative and noisy activities!

9.30am Activity:
Storytime - 'Noisy Nora'

Listen to my latest book ‘Noisy Nora.’ This is a story about a little mouse who doesn't fit in with the other mice because she's so loud! It's only when she meets a mole in need that she learns every voice has a home.

Grown Ups:
This story is a great way to teach about asking for help, learning from our mistakes and giving others a chance. At the end of the video I prepare the children to make their own collections just like Mole. Help them pick out a couple of collections in a variety of colours or sizes, either out in nature or around the house.

10.30am Activity:
Collections

Watch me go through my collections and point out their similarities and differences.

Grown Ups:
Help the children go through their collections, rank them from smallest to largest size and point out how they are similar and different.

1:30pm Activity:
Noisy or Quiet

Watch along as we decide if the collection I put in the tin will be noisy or quiet if I shake it.

Grown Ups:

Help the children play along and see if they can guess the answer correctly. Maybe you have a tin to put your collection into and try it yourself!

2:30pm Activity:
Make Your Own 'Noisy Nora' Puppets!

Join me while we make little puppets of Nora, Mole and one of the mice. We will also talk more about feelings and seeing the story from different points of view.

Grown Ups:

Print off the sheet and make puppets. Help them see the story through each character’s perspective and talk about how they might be feeling. Then encourage children to do the same with their own stories!

If you've finished these and still have time for fun...

Story time:
The Shoe Foxes by Sarah Parkinson

We finish the day reading my first book, 'The Shoe Foxes' and enjoy watching the foxes earn the money to buy three sparkly blue shoes!
