Today’s Activities

You can do any of these tasks, in any order (but we've suggested a timetable).
Take as long as your little ones want for each task, let them use their imaginations!

Please share your creations with us on social media.

Ocean Rescue Day

Hello children, I’m delighted to be involved in the EYFSHome author take over. This is Monty and Cookie who star in all of my books. Today we are reading 'Monty and the Ocean Rescue' and doing some fun activities around oceans and beaches.

9.30am Activity:
Reading of Monty and the Ocean Rescue

Listen to the story 'Monty and the Ocean Rescue' which features Monty,  Cookie and our spaniels. You'll  meet some other interesting characters too.

Grown Ups -

Encourage your child to listen to the story. You could talk about plastic in the ocean and why this is a problem for the creatures who live there.

10.30am Activity:
Design a water rescue bib for Monty or Cookie

Monty and Cookie often wear bibs with different designs because sometimes they are a little bit slobbery.

Here is a picture of Monty wearing his author's assistant bib for when we visit schools. Can you design a water rescue bib for Monty or Cookie? This can be anything you’d like to do, you can draw or paint sea creatures or write something or maybe even stick some shapes on. We have a template that you can download or even draw your own.

1:30pm Activity:
Decorate a Mermaid's Tail

In the story Cookie rescues a mermaid and we all love mermaids and their beautiful tails. Can you decorate a mermaid's tail?  You can use any of your usual art materials like crayons, pencils or paints. You can even find some sparkly materials like sweet wrappers or wrapping paper to stick on with some glue with the help of your adults

2:30pm Activity:
Packing a Beach Bag

Monty and Cookie love going to the beach. Here are all of the things we pack when we take them to the beach. Can you think about the things you’d pack in a bag to take to the beach concentrating on using as little plastic as possible and bringing back all of your rubbish. Lots of people take part in beach cleans but you must always have a grown up with you and wear gloves. Monty and Cookie are part of a group called Paws on Plastic who collect rubbish when they walk their dogs.

If you've finished these and still have time for fun...
Story time:
I'm not a Pandacow by Mark Saunders

'I’m not a Pandacow' is our bedtime story. This was the first book I wrote and features Monty as a little puppy.
