Sarah

My name is Sarah and I have my own business called AnimalTastic. Before I worked with my own animals, I worked as a zoo keeper. I learnt lots of information about big animals, when I left the zoo I worked for the RSPCA   and helped sick and injured animals to get better and then could release them back to their owners or back to the wild.  AnimalTastic has been going now for 9 years and I love my job. I visit schools, nurseries and care homes teaching people about animals.  Today I am going to help you learn a lot about 2 animals that move in different ways. We will then try to see if we can move like them and we are going to make those animals with an art project. Join me for activity number one in a little while.

It’s Castle Day at EYFS Home and Gemma Everson is joining us for lots of medieval fun involving knights, dragons and even food! Yum!  Hello, my name is Gemma Everson and I am a children’s author, a teacher and also a mum.  I love learning about history and I particularly love visiting castles! Today we are going to be learning more about them and making our own castles, shields and dragon masks! We will even make some easy peasy medieval snacks.

Jude Lennon

Hello children, Jude, Lamby and Flossie would like to welcome you to our smile, stretch, be happy day. We hope you have lots of fun joining in with our activities.  Flossie is a very happy lamb. She loves to smile, stretch and be happy so we're going to have a day doing just that. We'll read her story 'Floga with Flossie' and take part in an action song. We'll also make a necklace and make up our own moves to make us smile, stretch and be happy. If you want to wear PE kit you can.

Music Minors

Today we have a takeover day with Sundorne Explorers in Shrewsbury and Music Minors. We will be making tambourines, magic wands, singing and dancing and chasing bubbles too. We hope you enjoy our fun themed day!

Meet Ellen from Kirkleatham Museum in Redcar. Ellen will introduce you to today’s activities.  All the people you will meet today work in museums in the Tees Valley, which is in the North East of England between Whitby and Newcastle. Our museum partnership is called ‘Making a Mark’. We know that museums are great places for young children to explore and learn. Whilst it’s difficult to visit museums at the moment, children can learn some of those same things through playing at home.  We’ve been working hard with EYFS teachers in our museums, to create programmes and exhibitions that young children can enjoy. We’d love to see you in our museums, when it’s safe for you to visit. Look us up on a map of the UK!

I’m Emma and I’m an artist and teacher. I help children to produce amazing pieces of art and unique crafts using lots of different and interesting things!   Today, we’re going ‘All around the world’ where we’ll be doing some art, music, maths and having some splashy splashy fun too!

This is a special day that will help you to feel happy, relaxed and calm.   Today we're going to learn about Mindfulness and how we can help ourselves be happy, calm and relaxed. You can listen to a story, make a happiness box, take part in the glad exercise, relax your muscles and enjoy a lovely bed time story. Lamby and Flossie can't wait to join in.

Water is so important – it keeps us clean and healthy and we can also learn so much when we use it! Today we will be using water in all of our activities – there will be science, art, craft and of course, we will be having lots of fun getting very, very wet! My name is Sarah and I am a children’s author. Today I will be sharing my story ‘Sophie’s Spectacles’. After listening to the story, we will be making our own magic glasses and thinking about what makes us magnificent. Next, we will be drawing our very own positivity cards to keep and say to ourselves each day. Then we will be painting a self-portrait using a mirror to help us. Finally, we will finish with a bedtime story. My brand-new follow up to the story of ‘Sophie’s Spectacles’ – ‘The Magic Returns’.

Hello, my name is Sarah and I am a children’s author. I love having fun in the summer time and I am excited to share my day all about celebrating summer with my festival day!

First, we will be finding out how we can create our very own festival bunting. It wouldn’t be a festival without some music. Come and join in the fun with my Dad, Steve and sister, Maria as they perform for us and Eva and Gracie show us how to dance in true festival spirit! Then we will be sharing some fun, festival face painting.

Afterwards we will be cooking up some tasty festival food on the barbecue. Look out for some festival games you can play using recyclable bottles. Finally to finish the day we will be settling down to my story, ‘The Mole and the Sunflower’.

Hi everyone, my name is Rachel and I'm from Music Minors which offers music and movement activities for young children. I have two lovely daughters who keep me busy and who are my inspiration.  Coming from a secondary teaching background of Music and Drama for 8 years, I decided that these subjects could be used more in Early Years Settings and this is how Music Minors evolved. It started in my daughter's nursery in which they were most supportive and helpful.   Today's activities have a mixture of Music and Movement with lots of repetition and engaging activities for your little ones to grow in confidence and learn at the same time (without them even realising). I do hope you enjoy our ‘Summer’ themed Music Minors day!
